Silja Sol is current with her sequel album "Væremeh" that she has received great reviews for.
"Væremeh" located on the same track as her debut album "At heart," but we are dealing with a more assertive and clearly Silja Sol. She knows what she wants and how she wants it. "Go a little out of your comfort zone and into the blind spot, throw in instead of waiting for an invitation in the mail. All will væremeh "according Silja Sol.
"At the Heart" (2014) received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy Award. During 2015 Silja Sol received "væremeh" playing for himself crown prince and at the festival, the choir and sexy dancing with Sondre Lerche, toured with Aurora, received songwriter grant from Nopa and been in the rainforest in the Caribbean and recorded music video for the single "Wåhåå" . We talked to Silja ia on her album "Væremeh" and plans going forward.
Congratulations on the wonderful album "Væremeh". Can you tell us about the process surrounding the album from start to publication?
Thanks for that. I am an songwriter who finds inspiration in the little things of everyday life. I write short texts and cuts and pastes together with melodies mine until I have a song where the words and music work well together. When I have enough songs, I take with me the songs in the studio. There is only my producer Kato Ådland and I like working. It's mostly I like playing guitar, some bass lines, sings backing vocals and being silly. Kato supplements with art, good advice, some bass lines and other guitar here and there. We find out how the songs should, toys us through sounds and ideas until we are satisfied. When all the songs are where they should be we get into Einar Olsson as drums where needed drums.
Which songs from the album have a special relationship?
When I went into the studio to record "Væremeh" I had almost all the songs finished, but lacked a couple of songs. I had writer's block, so I yelled a bit like irritably at those around me, slammed a little annoyed with the lip before I locked myself in a room and refused myself to go out before I had AT LEAST one song ready. When was the 'trees' and 'Wåhåå' written in about three hours and two glasses of wine. 'Trees' is a song I'm extra happy in because it is very Silja 5 years. I'm also fond of extra 'Pusen' because we had always sick many cats when I was growing up, and because it was so bold.
What are the differences from your new album compared to your debut "At the heart"?
When I had recorded my debut "At the heart" and waited to be let it continued I naturally just typing while I waited. Many of the songs on the second disc my "Væremeh" is therefore unaffected by the debut, and is a natural continuation of my progress as relatively fresh songwriter in the Norwegian language. Yet I have been much clearer about how I want things and it is probably a bit more minimalist, perhaps with texts in greater focus. I spit a little more than I sing on "Væremeh" for there are so many words.
Where have you found inspiration to write songs?
Inspiration comes from small weird things in everyday life, something is being said that I bite my mark in, a strange word or phrase, or a mood. Drunks and children says a lot delightful crazy, but mostly inspired I of which cuts through, stands out as something special. Then I often feel that now I have to write!
When did you start interested in music, and what have you done up through?
I grew up in a very creative musician home. Dad is a pianist and vocalist mom. Both were freelance musicians much of my childhood and has always supplied a lot of music and countless weird adventure in my life. There were also thousands of lullabies at bedtime because I would not sleep and miss things, and always much rules, rhymes and play. I played a lot of piano up through elementary school age and learned guitar when I was about 15 years. When I heard Eva Cassidy for the first time I got blood on the tooth, and the album "Blue" by Joni Mitchell ... They owned yes, and I was really inspired and wanted to write their own songs and stories I could convey.
What do you feel it is that makes you unique / distinctive as an artist?
I do not quite know. Writing My style's a bit special with the direct, oral, Bergen lyrics. Think many people appreciate it. I'm crazy, fearless and clearly, so thus it would also be easier to stand out.
Do you have any musical influences?
There are many great musicians out there, but I've always loved my town for all the music and art that flourishes here - Everything cooperation. I look up to my associates and friends. Most people I work with makes me work even harder and even more constructively towards finding my own space middle of all this. Of musicians there is enough Radka Toneff that have hit me hardest and made the strongest impression on me with his unique ability to communicate.
What's the funniest / strangest you've experienced so far as an artist?
I think it must have been when Geir Luedy asked me if I could play synth / keys and I said yes (although I had only played a little piano before). Vips I was with Aurora his band and played double-keys on her very first appearances. It went away, suddenly we were in England, Germany and New York, and everything happened at once. It's probably one of the strangest and wackiest I've been through. I still can not really play synth.
You've had an interesting career so far and among others received rave reviews for your album and live performances - what have the highlights been for you so far?
Spellemannsnominasjonen for "The Heart" last year came quite unexpectedly and was very stately. I think the festival is one of the highlights concert statistics so far, but mostly it's incredibly fat to play big and small packed gigs for forskellige kinds of people here and there. When we played at peal festival last year we got a private boat to the backstage. We took a trip out to sea, bathed, ate Chinese takeout, and cost us max. It was an awesome delicious day. Playing on Peripherals festival outside Bergen was a balls ending to a wonderful festival this summer, and the crowd was totally wild, the concert goes enough not forgotten!
Can you tell us about one of your favorite memories from one of your live performances?
It is not always I get me some stuff. But believe it must have been in Egersund, the first time Linn was on bass, and we played a concert in a basement. It was so hot tight and ****. The scene was on the floor along with the audience and it was totally awesome! Everything was the way it always should be.
There are a lot of good Norwegian music that is released during the day - what do you like to listen to at the moment?
I hear a lot of Fjorden baby! Of course.
Saturday March 12, stand on stage at the Park Theatre in Oslo. What can audiences expect him this evening?
It becomes the new songs from "Væremeh" and we have with us a fat lady, Taran, the light show. We will be playing the roof of the Park Theatre, and hope everyone can get because then there will be extra fun when the roof easier.
What other musical plans for 2016?
We'll see what the summer brings, but before that I shall certainly record a bold music to be out before summer. This autumn I will not have enough some new songs, actually together with a band many think I've worked with before, but I have accordingly not. I'm looking very much forward.
