Aurora's Brazilian fans: - It was just magical.
Three nervous Brazilian girls are eagerly pacing around in one of the three lounges of Bergenfest. Julia Oliveira (23) and Luana Soares (22) have come all the way from Brazil to hear, let alone meet, their hero, Aurora.
Bianca Betinelli (26) is the biggest hero, however. She's moved to Sweden to be closer to Scandinavian culture.
The wolf song started it all
It was "Running with the wolves" that set the Brazilians ablaze on Facebook.
- It really just started as a small group on Facebook, digging Aurora and her music. But last year was a tremendous year for us. Then we created Portal Aurora Brazil and it really took off, the 26 year old tells BA.
- It's cold here, says Julia Oliveira huddled inside the rain coat she's bought. All three of them have had a rough encounter with the staple Bergen weather. But that hasn't put a wet blanket on their joy of meeting their biggest heroine.
- It started on Facebook but now we have our own web page, Instagram and many other social media, Betinelli tells us.
- We're everywhere, Oliveira adds enthusiastically.
Not met Aurora before
The original plan was for the three friends to meet in Sweden this Christmas, but when the Bergen concert was announced they had no doubt: They had to come to Bergen now.
- We just couldn't miss this. We just had to experience Aurora in her home town. She'll do several concert in Brazil in October and this'll be the prequel for us, says Luana Soares.
None of them has met Aurora before.
When BA talked to them a few hours before they were to meet they hardly managed to stand still while talking about the upcoming encounter.
- It's going to be just fantastic. We'll interview her and meet her as well, Bianca Betinelli gasps, jumping frenetically up and down.
The artist herself has been in tough with the fan group since last year.
- The ones who started the Facebook group had the initial contact with Aurora.
Meeting the hero
6 o'clock on Saturday turned out to be a red-letter day for Julia, Luana and Bianca. As Aurora was tip-toeing towards them pure joy was visible in the eyes of the Brazilian girls.
After some waiting the three girls are escorted into one of the many artist lounges of Koengen. Only three hours before she's due on stage Aurora is friendliness incarnate as the Brazilian "gang" enter the door.
- It's just unbelievable that they've come here all the way from Brazil, Aurora tells BA.
Having been allotted 20 minutes before NRK has an appointment with Aurora, BA withdraws to let the fans do what they've come here for.
- Could you please look into the camera and say your name and that you're looking forward to coming to Brazil?
Bianca Betinelli can hardly contain herself from pure joy when Aurora smiles.
- Do I say that directly to the camera? I'm not very good at these things, Aurora apologises before she tries again.
Aurora will be going to Brazil in October to finish her All my demons Tour.
- Rumour has it that the shows are sold out already?
- Yes, but we want to expand a little, with more concerts and more cities. It'll be very exiting to go to Brazil, says Aurora before the meeting is over.
Minutes after the meeting has ended three overjoyed Brazilian fans are standing outside Koengen.
- Oh, my god. It was just fantastic. She's so terribly cute, Luana Soares tells BA.
