The European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP) has been credited with boosting Norwegian singer Aurora’s bookings across the continent.
The 20-year-old songwriter has 12 confirmed European festival slots so far this year, making her the top-scoring act under the scheme ahead of Blossoms on 11.
ETEP is an initiative of annual showcase and conference Eurosonic Noorderslag, set up to help emerging artists perform at festivals overseas.
“The programme has been a great help to Aurora’s bookings over the last 12 months,” said her agent Oliver Ward, who jointly represents the singer with Natasha Bent at UTA. “Aurora played four fantastic shows at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2015 and 2016,” he added. “From these showcase slots, we received a large number of bookings from related festivals.
Thanks to this exposure, ETEP helped us book Aurora at the highest level across Europe.”
Aurora is due to perform at festivals including Lollapalooza Berlin, Roskilde in Denmark and Belgium’s Rock Werchter.
The latest ETEP results show 301 shows by 122 artists from 27 European countries in 2016. A total of 2,690 shows by 972 acts from 30 countries have taken place at the 100 ETEP festivals since the initiative’s launch in 2003.
Artists to have benefited include Years & Years, Hozier and Jake Bugg.
AURORA's amazing talent and ability to connect spiritually with her audience is why we are AURORA fans.
One look at the FANBASE on Twitter, Here on W&W's, Facebook, and Tumblr constantly promoting AURORA -for free- because we love her so much, and we recognize something deeply remarkable about her, is the reason for the season. To be fair, the "scheme" as it's called here, may have had a bit to do with building the momentum that brought AURORA to eventual international attention. Was it going to happen with or without the "scheme"? Yes I think so. I think as long as Made had the ingredients together around AURORA, Magnus, Odd Martin, Geir, and the others working the magic out, it was going to happen.
Thanks nevertheless, to AURORA's management, agent(s), the record companies, etc for the work they do. And honestly it was BRILLIANT how Made put together the amazing band and crew together with AURORA. Brilliant!
It's good that ETEP has been helpful.
BUT, THANK YOU AURORA FANS for what you do first and foremost... after all, it is YOU that buys the records and the concert tickets!
