Aurora singing in the new Disney soundtrack of Frozen II

Exciting news, Aurora is featured in the new Frozen II soundtrack! Aurora's voice appears in the song 'Into The Unknown' performd by Idina Menzel and Aurora, her voice also appears in the trailers, which you can hear/see in this post and in the further posts. The soundtrack is due to be released on November 17th, and the film will premiere on November 22nd.

"The new trailer seems to include a newly-voiced version of ‘Vuelie’, the introductory song which played over the opening credits of the original film. There’s a much darker feel to this new score, and we’re excited to hear more..." says classicfm.com I hope she can make it to the soundtrack this time.

Aurora Aksnes sings in the "Frozen 2" trailer

The 22-year-old from Os has a role in the soundtrack that is certainly to be one of this year's biggest films.

The trailer for "Frozen 2" has just been released, and Aksnes contributes with the bright voice one can hear over the dramatic music. Aksnes' record company Petroleum confirms to VG that it is her voice that appears in the trailer. So far, they can't say more about the pop star's involvement in the movie.

Aksnes was also central to an early trailer for the latest "Alien" movie, "Alien Covenant" from 2017, but was not included in the film itself.

She even announced the news of "Frozen 2" on Twitter, linking to the trailer and a simple message: "Listen carefully."

Whilst Aurora's music has featured in numerous major international movie trailers over the past few years ('Winter Bird' in the 'Equals' trailer, 'Nature Boy' and 'Under the Water' in various 'Alien:Covenant' trailers, her version of 'Baby Mine' in the trailer for the Tim Burton 'Dumbo' remake, etc) often, by the time the finished movie made it to the big screen and the official soundtrack was released, Aurora was sadly missing!

And it seems that (together with 'All is Found' by Kacey Musgraves and 'Lost in the Woods' by Weezer) it is a version of new 'Frozen II' theme 'Into the Unknown' by 'Panic! At the Disco' which will play during the film's closing credits. 

But according to this new Bergens Tidende article, Aurora's voice is still very much involved in the final 'Frozen II' cinema release. Indeed, it plays a central role in the movie's plot, as Aurora's is the mysterious and enchanting voice which main character Elsa hears, drawing her and her companions to leave their homeland on their quest northwards 'into the unknown'.

Furthermore, Aurora's management have confirmed to the newspaper that Aurora's voice will indeed be heard in the original AND dubbed foreign language versions of the cinema release.

Given that the first 'Frozen' is currently the biggest grossing animated movie ever, even if this sequel enjoys only a fraction of that success, it still means that very many more people will get to hear Aurora's 'mysterious and enchanting voice' for themselves!

Although the movie doesn't open in cinemas until next week (or later still depending on location) the soundtrack to 'Frozen II' is available from today.

Below (uploaded to YouTube by DisneyMusicVEVO) is Idina Menzel's English language version of 'Into the Unknown' featuring the distinctively crystal-clear vocals of Aurora.



Aurora also features on all of the dubbed versions (apart from those accompanying the end credits) such as the following version by the Dutch singer and actress Willemijn Verkaik.



And this version by the Thai singer and actress Wichayanee Pearklin.



In fact these are just a few, as it seems that there are countless different language versions of 'Into The Unknown' set for the worldwide release of the film. The original 'Frozen' was apparently officially translated and dubbed into no less than 41 languages with several additional unofficial dubbed versions being produced by local independent studios since.

Numerous versions of the song 'Into the Unknown' have already appeared in various languages on YouTube, streaming platforms, etc. While none of the versions which accompany the credits (such as those by 'Panic! At The Disco', Taeyeon, Giuliano Sangiorgi, etc) feature Aurora, all of the versions which form part of the actual storyline of the film, regardless of language, thankfully do all seem to feature Aurora's vocals.

The new Disney film 'Frozen II' is currently receiving a lot of press coverage.

Most articles just seem to make brief reference (if at all) to Aurora, understandably concentrating instead on the film's 'big stars', so to speak.

One particular article in the 'New York Post' however, actually describes Aurora as 'the secret weapon of Frozen 2'. And, although she may remain a relative unknown to the wider public, we as Aurora fans, are hardly likely to disagree with that!

Her role as the 'siren voice' in the movie is undoubtedly very small, but it does seem to be quite pivotal to the overall story-line of the adventure on which the main characters are drawn to embark.

Interestingly, the article sheds a little more light on her involvement with the project, such as the deep and lasting impression she made on Tom MacDougall (executive vice president of music at Disney) when she played an artist showcase for Disney several years ago.

So much so, that when the new Scandinavian-inspired 'Frozen II' movie was taking shape, MacDougall said of Aurora, "It was a no-brainer. She had to be our voice.”
