Bob Dylan. Ach ja, und manchmal Heavy Metal.
"I guess I'm pretty old-fashioned. I'm not really up to date on current music and have no idea what's the 'hot s h i t'", says Aurora. She prefers to listen to the old masters. Leonard Cohen, whose "Suzanne" touched her so deeply as a small child. Bob Dylan. Oh, and sometimes heavy metal.
For a 19-year-old, that's a remarkable statement. On the other hand, a lot about Aurora Aksnes is beyond the norm. Even as a child, she recognized her ability to replay pieces she had heard on the piano – without ever having had any lessons. At the age of ten she started composing her own songs, which her parents only noticed four years later. It was her mother who encouraged her to take the next step and give a concert in her high school. After that everything happened quickly, two years later Aurora had a record deal.

Aurora: Die Ausnahmekünstlerin im Video-Interview
von Daniel Eisfeld
Jemanden wie Aurora sieht die Musikwelt selten. Die Norwegerin startet derzeit mit ihrem Debütalbum „All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend“ durch.
Weitere Live-Termine in Deutschland:
18.10.2016 – St. Peter – Frankfurt
20.10.2016 – FZW – Dortmund

Aurora: The exceptional artist in a video interview
by Daniel Eisfeld
The music world rarely sees someone like Aurora. The Norwegian is currently getting started with her debut album "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend". We met the exceptional artist in Hamburg.
From a small suburb of a Norwegian fjord to the world charts - that can sometimes go faster than you think. Norwegian Aurora Aksnes is a good example. We met the exceptional artist for a backstage chat. You can see what came of it in our video.
Her name translates to Northern Lights and if these luminous apparitions could make music, it would probably sound just like the petite singer. With her debut album "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend", out in March, Aurora has delivered her debut album and proves that she is already well on her way to becoming a serious international artist.
The 19-year-old wrote all the tracks on the album herself. She taught herself the craft at the age of ten. But Aurora is not only self-taught in this area: The Norwegian learned to play the piano by practicing her favorite songs from the radio until she could play them perfectly. She developed her own musical concept early on. And that runs like a red thread through their current album. Multi-layered sounds, beautiful lyrics and smartly arranged titles somewhere between electro and indie. Once heard, it is difficult to resist the songs. Aurora plays pop music that meets at least two criteria: charisma and catchiness. Anyone who talks to Aurora quickly realizes that a very special personality is sitting opposite them. And anyone who has heard the chorus of "Running With The Wolves" will not forget it, nor will forget the natural, young voice.
That's what a large mobile phone provider thought too, who secured the song directly for an advertising campaign. By now, however, everyone should have noticed that this young artist is far more than just a one-hit wonder.
Aurora also convinces live, despite great stage fright, with her charisma, her positive energy and her performance. In the second half of the year she can still be seen on some German stages. Aurora Live is a guest at the Dockville Festival in Hamburg on August 20th, 2016. In September she will make another stop in Berlin for the Lollapalooza Festival.
More live dates in Germany:
18.10.2016 – St. Peter – Frankfurt
20.10.2016 – FZW – Dortmund
One thing is certain: we will be hearing a lot more from this woman.
Before her concert at Mojo we met Aurora in Hamburg. Watch the full backstage conversation here: [link to the video]
